In the history of television shows, NBC’s 30 Rock certainly made its mark when it had its run from 2006 to 2013. The sitcom produced by the talented writer-actress-producer Tina Fey gave both quirky and lovable characters people can’t help but root for, even if they were baffled or exasperated by the characters — remember the hilarious werewolf Bar Mitzvah?

Of the 30 Rock cast is Alec Baldwin’s overbearing Vice President of East Coast Television and Microwave Oven Programming for General Electric, Jack Donaghy. He and Fey’s Liz Lemon had the best dynamic, which could be attributed to their great chemistry as a comedic couple.

However, what looked like a match made for television may not have been the case for actors Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. Once in a while, speculations about tensions between the actors on set surfaced, but it was covered up well by their talent as actors. No concrete evidence or eyewitness statement mentions the feud between Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey.

In fact, the former colleagues only spoke highly of each other and were willing to work again, but that fell through. Tina Fey often praised Baldwin for being the reason there was even a show, and Baldwin revealed he was more interested in Tina Fey than just as a colleague.

The show took some funny pieces of the real-life characters of its actors and ran with it, but it seems Alec Baldwin wasn’t able to shake some of his rumored narcissistic behavior behind the scenes, and that clashed with Tina Fey, who also served as producer and writer for the sitcom.

In a Reddit forum, the speculated friction between Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin was discussed, including numerous other attitudes of the ’80s heartthrob. No concrete evidence can support this claim, and it’s unclear what the podcast the fans referred to got their information. Most fans of the show were surprised by speculated claims, pointing out that the actors had a great working relationship throughout the period.

On the contrary, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey got along well enough to ignite more interest in their chemistry. Tina Fey flat-out shut down rumors of a feud with Alec Baldwin.

A rumor of Fey and Baldwin getting into a catfight during a photo shoot for pre-season promotions had spread. However, not only did Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin not have a catfight, but there was no photo shoot months before the rumor spread.

Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin’s first meeting was during the taping of a Saturday Night Live episode, and as stated in Alec Baldwin’s book Nevertheless: A Memoir, he fell in love.

“When I first met Tina Fey—beautiful and a brunette, smart and funny, by turns smug and diffident and completely uninterested in me or anything I had to say—I had the same reaction that I’m sure many men and women have: I fell in love,” he stated.

However, an SNL coordinator deflated Baldwin’s hope when they informed him that Fey was already married.

“She pointed to a man sitting along the wall. Or maybe he was standing? This was Jeff Richmond, Tina’s husband. Jeff is diminutive. Tina describes him as ‘travel-size.’ When I saw him, I thought, What’s she doing with him?” Baldwin wrote in his memoir. Nonetheless, he later came to respect Richmond and understand their relationship, although it took him a few years.

The somewhat reaction of Baldwin to Tina Fey would transition to great chemistry on-screen, and many shippers from the sitcom would have been happy to know that they were not imagining things.
